THE HISTORY


Kapi Mana Netball Centre is located at the netball pavilion, Mungavin Ave, Porirua.


We are an established club that was formed back in 1956.


An inaugural meeting was held at Porirua R.S A Hall 8th October 1956, called by the Wellington Netball Association. 42 interested people from the local area, Paekakiriki and Ramuati D.H. S attended. The meeting was advised of the advantages the formation of a Sub association that would have boundaries set from Tawa Flat to Waikanae.


At a meeting held in February 1957 the name Kapi Mana was decided. Three grades, Senior, Intermediate and Junior were planned for the first season. Representatives would be eligible for the Wellington Minor team sharing with Wellington Secondary Schools, this team would attend New Zealand Tournament. Fees were set at 5 pounds per Club team, 1 pound per school team with a maximum of 3 pounds per School.


Opening day was held at the newly opened Mana College with the P and T pipe band leading a parade 21 teams. The season was officially opened by the Patroness, Mrs Del Mayman, with a demonstration game played by Titahi Bay and Porirua Senior teams.


Kapi Mana Netball Centre is proud of it's past presidents, committes and clubs and records their contributions to netball in the area.
